HE'S SEEN BOTH SIDES

HE KNOWS WHAT ELITE LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU INHERIT IT, AND WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD IT.

Kevin arrived at the University of Iowa inside one of the most dominant programs in college wrestling. He was part of five NCAA Championship teams, but spent his first three years as the backup, going 0–5 in wrestle-offs before eventually becoming an NCAA Champion.

Years later, the challenge changed. First as a high school coach at Christiansburg, Virgina, and then as a college coach both at Virginia Tech and Iowa State, Kevin wasn't stepping into finished products. He was helping rebuild programs, raise expectations, develop people, create culture, and turn struggling teams into national contenders.

He's experienced elite. He's failed chasing it. And he's built it from the ground up.

THE KEYNOTE

ELITE ISN'T AN ACCIDENT. IT'S BUILT.

Kevin breaks nearly four decades of championship experience into five simple principles for building — and sustaining — elite performance.

They're not complicated. Doing them consistently is the challenge.

01

FOCUS

Know exactly what you want.

Elite starts with clarity. Define what you're building and get specific enough that your goal can guide what happens next.

02

PLAN

Build the path.

Find the right process, the right people, and the accountability required to turn the goal into something you can actually pursue.

03

GO TO WORK

Do what the goal requires.

This is where most people fall away. Elite is built through the repeated, often unglamorous work you're willing to do when nobody is applauding.

04

BE TOUGH

Learn how to handle the hard part.

Failure isn't the end of the process. Learn from it, adjust, prepare for adversity, and take the next useful action.

05

HAVE FUN

Find the joy in the pursuit.

Sustained excellence is hard enough. Know what makes the work worth doing, celebrate progress, and enjoy something about the process.

THE BRIDGE

HE DIDN'T JUST

COACH WRESTLING.

HE BUILT AND LED

ORGANIZATIONS.

Building championship programs required Kevin to do far more than coach wrestling. He recruited talent, developed people, raised resources, built relationships, created buy-in, and established cultures capable of performing under pressure. It's why so many people who worked with Kevin describe him the same way: the CEO of his programs.

THE ARENA CHANGED.

THE PRINCIPLES DIDN'T.

The same fundamentals Kevin used to build championship programs now help leaders, teams, and organizations define what elite looks like, and do the work required to get there.

BUILT TO TRANSLATE

ONE FRAMEWORK.

MANY ROOMS.

The Five Principles stay the same. Kevin changes the stories, examples, and application to meet the people in front of him.

CORPORATE + ORGANIZATIONS

For leaders, managers, sales teams, associations, and organizations focused on culture, accountability, people development, and sustained performance.

COACHES + ATHLETIC PROGRAMS

For coaches, teams, and athletes navigating goals, expectations, mental toughness, pressure, failure, and the pursuit of something bigger.

EDUCATION + STUDENT LEADERS

For students and emerging leaders learning how focus, work, resilience, accountability, and belief shape what comes next.

SOMETHING THEY CAN USE

MOTIVATION FADES.

EDUCATION STICKS.

Kevin brings energy to the room, but getting people fired up for an hour isn't the goal.

He wants them to leave knowing what to do next.

Every Building Something Elite keynote turns the Five Principles back on the audience, challenging them to identify what they want, who will hold them accountable, what action comes next, what could stop them, and what they'll enjoy about the process.

THEY DON'T JUST HEAR THE FRAMEWORK.

THEY BEGIN APPLYING IT BEFORE THEY LEAVE.

PUT IT TO WORK

WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING?

Before the audience leaves, Kevin challenges them to apply the Five Principles to something that actually matters to them.

01

What do you want to accomplish?

02

Who will hold you accountable?

03

What's the first action you'll take?

04

What obstacle is most likely to stop you?

05

What will you enjoy most about the process?

THE ELITE CHEAT CODE

Revisit it. Repeat it. Keep it in front of you.

What gets repeated gets remembered.

THE PEOPLE HE'S BUILT WITH

THE RESULTS AREN'T JUST ON A SCOREBOARD.

Athletes, coaches, parents, business leaders, and colleagues tell the same story from different angles: Kevin raises the standard, tells the truth, believes in people, and helps them figure out what comes next.

“I’d like to throw him in front of some CEOs and let him help their businesses grow — or help them grow as leaders.”
